Llama Education combines the best of traditional classroom instruction with practical experience outside the classroom. I attended classes for one week and was able to understand and speak Spanish at a beginner level by the end of the week. Maria and Roy, my theory instructor, were both excellent teachers, and great friends.
While attending classes, I stayed with Maria and her family. They made me feel like part of their family. My dormitory room was clean and comfortable with a private bath and balcony, beautiful decor and a view of el Misti that will not be forgotten. Maria is an outstanding cook and I enjoyed sampling many of her Peruvian specialties.
As part of my practical experience, we visited the Plaza, Santa Catalina Monestary, the Recollej Museum, the market, discotecas, shopping centers, the movie theater and a birthday party for a young boy. It was truly an authentic introduction to Peruvian culture.
Maria, Peter, Diana, Sonya, and Roy, thank you so much for the warm welcome and your friendship. I will miss you!

Unfortunately, I spent only a week studying with Maria and her capable teachers. It was a joyous learning time, the whole process of living the language with a teacher and her family being quite different than any previous experience.
Maria teaches by involving her students in all aspects of her culture - churches, museums, neighbours, friends, cuisine, and even nursery school! I had a great time, learned a lot and dream of returning.

My knowledge of Spanish was increased greatly after a month studying at Llama Education and living with Maria. The theory lessons particularly were a highlight.
There's a lot of hard work involved but I recommend staying at the school and living with the family if you truly wish to immerse yourself in Peruvian culture, Arequipenian life, and to gain a much better understanding of Spanish.

I am a high school Spanish teacher from the Cleveland, Ohio (USA) area, and I spent a month at Llama Education here in Arequipa. I can´t say enough about how wonderful my experience was! Maria, the director of the school, designed my studies to specifically meet my needs.

¡Hola! Na een kleine week gearriveerd te zijn in Peru, heb ik voor 10 dagen spaanse les genomen bij Maria. 4 uur per dag, deels van Lenia en deels van Maria. Tevens verbleef ik in het gezin van Maria met een prachtige eigen ruimte (waarnaast ook het leslokaal is) !!

Our stay in the home of Maria and Peter was pleasant and classes were extremely interesting and helpful for my future study. I highly recommend contacting Llama Education and visiting Arequipa, Peru.

Together with Sanne I studied Spanish for a month in Arequipa. We've stayed the entire month with the family Kuijt. I liked it a lot to stay within their family, because in this way we were 'forced' to talk spanish all day long. That's the best way of learning it I think!

Both sets of classes were excellent - business-like but enjoyable study with great teachers who are professional and experienced and can adapt classes to best suit students' needs. I loved it ( what a swot!) and although I found 24/7 Spanish exhausting at times I learnt such a lot.
To practise after class Maria had me reading the paper, taking taxis, going to the museum and cooking dinner all in Spanish ( and I rarely even cook in English!). I probably mangled lots of grammar but it made really confident about using the things I'd learnt.

Hello,
In november a friend and I took Spanish classes in Arequipa. We were very satisfied with the level of the classes, the teachers and the amount of things we learnt. During our practical lessons we went to the museum, read books and had a lot of conversations. In our theortical lessons we had a lot of grammar and conversation too.
We learnt so much and we could apply all our knowledge during our travelling in Peru and Bolivia, which we did after the course. If you are planning to take a Spanish course, you should definetely come to Arequipa and take the classes at Llama education! Ciao, Sanne

Hello,
Ola, He estado en Peru por 2,5 meses. La premiera mes mi amiga y yo hemos apprendido espanol en Arequipa. Fui muy interessante y agradable. Tenemos 4 horas educacion cada dia, 5 dias en una semana. Tenemos 2 horas de practicar y 2 horas de theoria. Durante eso mes, hemos apprendido el basiso de espanol. Ahora es facil por nosotros de viajar en sud america, porque hablamos la lengua.
Cuando tu quieres apprender espanol, Llama education es en escuela muy bien! Saludos Sanne (de Holanda)
